I've decided that the flickr UI was more of what I wanted to do. fotopages is tough to work with editing bulk pictures. Too bad. the new URL is http://www.flickr.com/photos/ainisakina/sets/72157609508674802/

Just got pictures of my car from a friend. I guess what they say about tin worm don't just apply to 4 season countries. There's a huge hole where right hand fender wing is supposed to join to the scuttle. The reason it looked so nice is because the sheer amount of filler was so much, they covered the entire whole. Although, scrapping off filler is an all time favourite pastime of mine.

Just The Engine work

I'm putting up the engine rebuild (up til today) on a separate post. Check it out. I'm kinda tired to write any commentary. Hopefully the pictures tell the story.

Mini Rebuild III
I've got more updates for the restore. The body guy found more places where the last repair job was totally crap. So, more metal for him to fabricate, and replace. The latest pics doesn't his next worry, the rear subframe and body. RUSTED!
On a more positive note.. The engine is almost done. The head is being ported. And the valve face is being machines for better compression ratio. Enjoy the pics

Engine rebuild Part II
I've been having the worst luck with work this last couple of months. So much so, I could hardly stop by the workshop to check on my car. Not to mention getting some personal time to upload the progress pictures of the build.
Anyway, without anymore delay. More pics.
By the way, the engine block is 'new'. And since it was previously 'cared for', we've decided to re-sleeve the cylinder wall, do a slight rebored and honing. Also, we found out that the crankshaft couldn't turn after we fitted the entire upper engine part together, so we had to rehone the crank passage and caps. All this done at a proper engineering shop, of course. I've also ordered a new custom stainless steel LCB exhaust extractor.
Oh, and also, i've bought a new K&N air filter, and stub stack for the intake. Now need to find a better intake manifold, and maybe someone to donate an RC40 muffler.

After close to a year on the road, the clubman punya engine sudah berkecai. After towing it back to the workshop, and opened up, all of us who saw the engine were fairly surprised it lasted that long, and could still start lepas first time dia mati. To make a long story short, whoever did the last engine on this car, didn't do a proper job building back the crankshaft. Sampaikan the center bearing cap pecah! Dah pulak tu, all the bolts for the crank were not torqued down. Boleh pusing tangan. Anyways, enough talk, I'll post pics.
BTW, semalam tak sempat nak amik gambar sangat. I'll take some more of the old engine later today. and also the condition of the car now. For now, tengok the valves as it is being repolished.

The NEW (old) 1981 Mini Clubman 1100
Got the car. Now it's time to burn another hole in my pocket to get this unpolished gem gleaming again. The car is an all original Mini Clubman 1100. That means it comes with a clubman front end (square-ish) and it has a 1098cc engine.
